If you’re a lady that is slightly larger than a size UK 12, you might be seemingly perturbed by the reality of ladies designer clothes always verging on the small side. For those with curves, designer clothes can sometimes be your least best friend. In all the years that designer fashion has been available, there seems to have been one common theme, and that’s that the clothes are small sized.

Of course, all women want to look their best and ladies designer clothes have a great impact on our self-confidence. The problem starts when curvy ladies find they can’t buy top designer clothes because they simply can’t get into them! To start with, you have to be able to find a designer brand that caters for your size and this can be a lengthy process for some. Many people do not realise that ladies designer clothes and high street fashions do vary quite a bit in sizing, so try not to get too down about the sizing issue because a size UK10 in high street could quite easily end up being a size UK 14 in designer. Slim women can also appreciate the nightmare battle with smaller sized designer clothes, which is why they often take drastic measures to fit into their favourite clothes.

It is clear that fashion designers make their clothes slightly smaller so that they look their very best when on the catwalk and being worn by the very thin models. The reality though is quite different, and fashion designers must realise that not every lady is so slim, yet can still make the designer clothes look beautiful. It is sad that many fashion designers only envisage slim women wearing their clothes.

But let’s not get too down about this, as there is a glimmer of hope out there with some fashion designers now catering for women who are slightly larger. One brand, Juicy Couture, used to be well known for making small clothes, but their sizing is much more ‘true to size’ these days, which bodes well for other brands potentially doing the same.

The history of solar energy stretches back over two thousand years to the Greek and Roman ages  they  were the first people  to actually  plan their houses to make the best use of the suns rays, for both light and heat. The well known  Greek philosopher Socrates,  in histories first recorded writing on renewable solar energy  concerning the energy from the sun when he stated  that all houses  should be faced south so that they got maximum sun in the winter.

The Roman aristocracy  took it a step further when they made the first historical  use of glass window panes on the south facing aspects  of the villa’s, the enormous cost was such  that only the very richest class could do this. Two ancient civilizations each suffering from what might be thought of as a contemporary  predicament  that of energy shortages, in this instance the was not enough wood to go round , wood being the dominant  source of heat.

After  the fall of the Roman Empire there was no thought given to solar energy throughout the dark ages.

Until well into the 1800’s it was always thought  that the world’s supply of fossil fuels was so hugh  that it would be impossible to use it all , particularly when new resources were constantly  being found . In 1861 Auguste Mouchet built  a steam engine that was heated entirely  by the sun, however  the machine was expensive to maintain and coal prices were coming down so he could not secure backing for further  development. He then went on to make a study of the burgeoning  demands of industry and commented that industry’s demands for coal would soon dry up all the deposits and then what would happen?

There continued to be an interest in solar power  and in everything electric from then on, an fascinating  fact is that though we think of battery powered vehicles as modren technology, up till around 1905 there was a larger  proportion of electric vehicles  reistered till modern times. Their development was stopped  because battery technology was unable  to practically overcome the enormous weight of the batteries themselves. The World speed record  of 1905 had more electric vehicles  entered than gasoline engine  cars , it was won by a gasoline engine  car with a top  speed of 60  miles per hour, that and the decreasing  price of gas stopped  commercial  development  until  the oil crisis  of the 1970’s refocused attention on solar and other alternative  forms of energy, this mostly  brings the history of solar energy up to the present day .

Serious interest in solar power, up until  the 50’s, was limited to scientific research,in fact  the 1921 Nobel Prize for Physics was awarded  to Albert Einstein for his work on the principle of photoelectric effects on electrical generation. So  it remained almost entirely a scientific research project till  1953 when Bell Laboratories developed  a silicon  solar cell capable of producing  some electricity, but following three  years of development  it still cost 60  times as much to generate a watt of electric energy  using solar as apposed to using fossil fuels . So development  was cut right back till the oil embargoes of the 1970’s .

World leaders suddenly had to wake up to a world where the oil prices doubled overnight so massive  investment was put into the development of more cost effective solar cells and two decades later in the 1990’s we had efficient residential photovoltaic cells, by which time the oil crisiswas long gone and gas was again cheap  and readily available but for how long?

Over the last decade  solar cells have risen  in efficiency and fallen in price to a point where homemade solar panels are a viable choice for Do It Yourself home solar energy, ready to start writing your own history of solar energy.

I want to know what to wear in a street fight. There is a girl who is planning to fight me tommorrow and just to be extra careful I want to make sure I have the fighting wear.Last time I got in a fight I wore sweats but I heard I shouldnt wear sweats because they could be pulled down..So any tips?

I would say you should avoid this fight. But if its gonna happen and I’m assuming your a girl. No earrings, no jewelery, and comfortable shoes. You should wear something that is fitting not to tight. If you want to wear something more protective like a jacket then go for it. In girl fights or any fight try to end it fast. Girls are nuts do not drag it out.

I really like the clothes that teen Japanese girls wear. I generally dress that way myself but i just buy from vintage stores and the clothes aren’t actually Japanese, i do own a few Harajuku Lovers items which i love but i just want to know of any good, and not overly expensive online stores where i could find dresses and such, since i can only find t shirts.

I love all kinds of rock music, I’m really knowledgeable about bands past and present, but one thing I always have a problem with is like sort of "categorising" a band or a song into a type of rock music, like metal or punk, or alternative, etc. Any ideas? What stuff should I listen for that would tell me what "genre" it is?
Thanks

Well, what I do is look up a band I like and it tells you what genre they are, and you get the feel of the genre eventually. Most of what I listen to is ‘classic rock’, even though it’s not a genre per se, it sure cuts out o whole lot of thinking… I’ll do a couple..

Hard Rock – Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin
Heavy Metal – Black Sabbath
Hair Metal – Poison
Funk – Sly & The Family Stone
Grunge – Nirvana, Mudhoney, Alice In Chains
Art Rock – The Velvet Underground
Electronica – Prodigy, Moby
Punk – The Stooges, New York Dolls, Sex Pistols
Metal – [which has like a BILLION different sections] – Metallica, Pantera, Slayer.
Glam Rock – David Bowie, T. Rex

Really, I’d be here all day. XD

Or just read a concise history of popular music, yeah actually, that would help a lot, Wikipedia is generally very good for things like that. icon smile How do I indentify different types of Rock Music? Punk, Metal, etc...?
